Insuring Your Large House

Larger homes often need a more tailored approach to insurance than standard properties.

Higher rebuild costs, more rooms, larger contents values, and additional features can all affect the level of cover required.

Specialist large house insurance can help make sure your policy better reflects the size and characteristics of your home.

Whether you own a spacious family property, a high-value home, or a house with specialist features, it is important to choose cover that suits the property rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all policy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Large house insurance is often associated with homes that have six or more bedrooms, but insurers may also consider factors such as total floor area, rebuild cost, contents value, and any specialist features.

The most suitable cover will depend on the property as a whole.

Not always. A house may need a more specialist insurance approach because of its size, layout, rebuild cost, or contents requirements, even if it is not described as a high-value home.

What matters is whether a standard policy is likely to reflect the property properly.

Larger homes can have higher rebuild costs, more extensive contents, and features that increase the complexity of a claim.

Specialist insurance can help provide cover that is better aligned with the scale of the property and the risks involved.

We offer several additional coverage options to provide comprehensive protection for your large house. These include accidental damage cover, legal expenses, and coverage for valuable personal property, among others.

Our team can help you customise a policy that perfectly fits your needs.

Yes. Buildings and contents cover can usually be arranged together, and additional cover may also be available for high-value or specified personal belongings.

It is important to check the policy documents for limits, exclusions, and conditions.

In some cases, yes. If your large house is listed, period, or has unusual construction features, this may still be considered.

The details of the property will help determine whether cover may be available.

Depending on your needs, optional cover may include accidental damage, family legal protection, home emergency cover, and cover for higher-value personal belongings.

Always check the policy documents for the cover limits, exclusions, and conditions that apply.
