What is ‘Non-Standard Construction’?
To most UK insurers, ‘standard’ refers to properties with a regular bricks and mortar build with a pitched slate or tile roof. Therefore the term ‘non-standard construction’ is far more inclusive than many people realise. Practically any building not constructed of tiles, bricks and mortar can fall outside of the ‘standard’ bracket and be considered as higher risk by insurers. This includes wattle and daub, listed buildings, steel or timber framed builds, concrete homes, even flat roofs or non-standard extensions, the list is extensive.
At Intelligent Insurance we strive to arrange home insurance for all types of property, whatever construction method and materials are used. We are familiar with all types of non-standard construction and have a professional team on-hand to help assist you with a policy that is right for your property.
