Cover for High Risk Property

Certain items of property are defined as ‘high risk’ by insurers and are handled differently to general contents. In all Intelligent Insurance policies, ‘High Risk Property’ includes:

  • Jewellery
  • Precious stones
  • Clocks & Watches
  • Furs
  • Articles made from gold, silver and other precious metals
  • Photographic Equipment
  • Binoculars & Telescopes
  • Musical Instruments
  • Pictures and other works of art
  • Collections of stamps, coins or medals

Intelligent Insurance home contents policies provide cover for high risk property in the home as standard, up to £2,000 per item (up to the total amount covered within the policy limits). Cover for higher value high risk items in and away from the home can be provided by specifying the items and their values within your policy.

If you require cover for a high risk item worth less than £2,000 away from the home, you can either specify it on your policy or select optional personal belongings cover, which is available in increments of £1,000 up to a total of £10,000. Depending on the level of  personal belongings cover you select, individual items below £2,000 in value (or the limit as stated on your Policy Schedule) are automatically covered away from the home up to the total cover limit selected.

Cover for General High Value Items

All items not defined as ‘high risk’ are covered within the home regardless of value, up to the total amount covered within the policy limits. If you require cover for any item over £2,000 in value away from the home you’ll need to specify it within your policy.
