Can you arrange buildings insurance in a management company’s name?
No. Intelligent Insurance cannot arrange buildings insurance in a management company’s name, as these policies are treated as commercial insurance and fall outside our home insurance offering.
If the flat owners jointly hold the freehold through a management company, the buildings policy needs to be arranged in that company’s name. You will need an insurer or broker that can arrange cover for company-owned freeholds.
This is different from a managing agent simply looking after the property. The key points are who owns the freehold and whose name the policy needs to be in.
