What is an endorsement?
Key points:
- A written change to your policy that overrides (or supplements) the standard wording.
- Can add, remove or limit cover, or impose extra conditions.
- Becomes part of your schedule, read it carefully.
- View live endorsements or request changes in Manage My Policy.
Why insurers use them
Not every risk fits a one‑size‑fits‑all policy. An endorsement lets the insurer tailor protection, for example:
- Including a new extension before the next renewal.
- Excluding subsidence after a previous claim.
- Requiring approved locks on all external doors.
What to do
Check any endorsement on your documents and make sure you can meet its conditions. If you’re unsure, speak to an advisor before cover starts.
