Underpinned House Insurance

My house was underpinned 20 years ago and since then I have been unable to find insurers willing to take me on when I have tried to switch. Premiums for the insurer I was locked into rose to a stupid level so I tried again this year to find an alternative. Intelligent Insurance provided good info by web and phone, and I feel I have found the insurance I need for a much more reasonable price. My house has had no problems since being underpinned, so why should someone like me have to pay endlessly through the nose once a problem has been solved? Thank you Intelligent Insurance, for saving me a nearly thousand pounds this year alone.

Did some “underpinning” in order to create a basement and overcome minor cracking issues with clay shrinkage.  This was not work undertaken under an insurance claim – nor was it mandated by the structural surveyor.  I was doing a belt and braces approach to a build – so that if I decided to do a loft conversion later I had good footings.  The moment I mentioned the “U” word most insurance companies either ran a mile or charged a huge premium to insure something you had already fixed!!!  Not Intelligent Insurance! I completed a detailed questionnaire which demonstrated a clear understanding of the matters  – and was pleasantly surprised with a quote at much the same rate as I was paying before I committed the sin of improving my property and making it more sound 😉  Delighted with how easy the website was to use too!

After tearing my hair out trying to get building insurance, finally found these guys and it was simple. They also had a very sensible attitude to the subsidence history (other insurers automatically increase the premium if there has been a history of subsidence, but Intelligent Insurance took into account there has been no movement for 30 years since underpinning and so it didn’t affect my premium.) Really competitive price too.

I would highly recommend this company. The website was easy to use. I phoned as my neighbour’s house has been underpinned and the person who reviewed my details was very knowledgeable and professional. The premium is very competitive and I am satisfied I am fully covered.

Was seeking an alternative provider on a property which had been underpinned 16 years ago resulting in year on year premium increases with the previous provider. II were quick, efficient and helpful and found more affordable cover with a reputable insurer.
